Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites Announces Retirement Of Mariza Belusic

VICTORIA, BC (April 10, 2009) – Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites, a place where decades of service has become a hallmark, is announcing the retirement of Executive Housekeeper Mariza Belusic after 31 years of outstanding service. She will be retiring on May 1st and will be honored by her fellow employees at a heartfelt celebration on April 17th at the hotel.

Mariza emigrated from Croatia in the late 1960’s and joined the hotel in September 1978 where she quickly rose to the role of Head of Housekeeping (or Executive Housekeeper as the title stands today). Throughout her tenure at the hotel, Mariza has created many life-long relationships in her role with hotel suppliers, tourism partners and hotel associates. In addition to her ability to cultivate relationships, Mariza has displayed a wonderful sense of loyalty, liveliness and kindness among all the people with whom she’s worked. Her kindness and generosity has been demonstrated through the multitude of “family” dinners, team breakfasts and various events she has organized. Mariza’s retirement is more than deserved; however, she will be greatly missed.

Mariza is originally from Zupanici, Croatia and attended Martinski School where she met her husband of 43 years. Mariza has two children and four grandchildren with whom she enjoys spending much of her time. Following her retirement, Mariza will be spending a few months each year in Croatia.

The Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites, located at 345 Quebec Street, is owned and managed by SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. This downtown hotel has 196 guestrooms that overlook the beautiful city of Victoria and is conveniently located near the inner harbour, just one block away from the Legislative Buildings and is close to shopping, entertainment and marine attractions.
